Breast Lift

Also known as mastopexy this operation is designed to lift the breasts to a more pleasing level. After birth for example, breasts fall often due to volume loss and the nipples point down. After Mastopexy the size remains the same or is a little less. In many cases this operation is combined with breast enlargement, so in this case the breast would be the same or larger and lifted.

The plastic surgeon will advise you on your best option with regards to implants and the best approach with the procedure. Normally the incision is an upsidedown “T” with the horizontal top line placed in the natural crease under the breast and the vertical cut from the crease to the nipple. The scar disappears with time. Sometimes it is possible to cut around the nipple. This is a better option for a slight lift.

This procedure is carried out under general anesthetic and the patient stays one night in hospital. The operation takes one or two hours and a 10-14 day rest is recommended for the body to fully recover. You must avoid lifting weights for six weeks after the operation.

Post op you will receive a plan of follow up check ups to ensure the breasts are settling well.
