Chin Surgery
Some faces have a poor projection or a problem with the width or height of the chin. Chin surgery is to correct these problems.
A procedure that takes a piece, the shape of a horseshoe, from the chin (JAW) bone and sliding it backwards or forwards and fixing it with titanium screws.
The patient’s profile can be altered significantly with chin surgery and has a dramatic effect on the general symmetry of the face.
Men and women have a better appearance with a certain type of chin. A small chin can make the nose look bigger or alternatively a big chin can make a nose look smaller in comparison with the face. So there needs to be harmony between the chin and the nose.
An important consideration is whether only chin remodelling is necessary or if the dental projection (the way the teeth sit) is incorrect.
If the dental projection is correct then a chin procedure can be carried out alone. If not, you may need to combine upper and lower jaw surgery. An incision is made inside the mouth so there are no visible scars.
The jaw is seperated on both sides using small cutting instruments. Then the jaw is brought forward, rotated, pushed back or if necessary a part can be removed to reduce the size of the chin.
